Ice cream has come a long way since the seventeenth century. Now in the 21st century new flavors and options are busting out everywhere. Everything from low carb to vegan to bubblegum flavoring. Ice cream has reinvented itself throughout the ages.

People are buying ice cream more than ever. In general, 87% of consumers have admitted to buying ice cream in the last 6 months. With so many flavors and options a person could go the whole year not eating the same ice cream twice.

As the industry grows and the future of the ice cream industry evolves with the times, we will continue to see creative creations and innovative ice cream concepts blossom bigger and more extravagantly

A generational brand that is synonymous with quality and nostalgia.  Trends help define points in time of a person's life. A time of reference “back when” Oreo and chocolate chip cookie dough was all the rage. 

Calorie Friendly Options

As people become more health conscious as time goes on, indulging in a classic treat like ice cream has become a must-have in the health food world. Decreasing the caloric intake has been a staple among the dietary professionals for some time as an answer to weight loss. Ice cream seemed like a logical start to figuring out how to make foods have less calories. 

The brand Halo, which offers low calorie ice cream has seen an increase in revenue by as much as 462%. Between 2013 to 2018 profits have jumped significantly, cementing the market need for low calorie ice cream. 

 New Sub Categories

The 2020s are ushering in some vastly different categories for food and ice cream. CBD options as well as cannabis infused desserts are making a debut in new markets as laws start to shift with the times. All vegan varieties are also gaining popularity as people decrease their meat protein consumption. 

Probiotics are also being included into ice cream as a health option for people with digestion issues. 

 Flavor Mash-ups

As this is not anything new as far as concepts are concerned, the flavors that are being mashed could raise some eyebrows. 

Flavors like Oreo and Chocolate Chip cookie, two competing camps of cookies are suddenly being thrown into the mix. Red velvet with angel food cake have made a few appearances. 

Like UFOs being spotted on lone highways, stories of strange ice cream flavors seem to ooze into the public consciousness. No one knows when or where these creations are being consumed but they know that they exist.

The transference of creative ideas is seamless through a myriad of applications, giving birth to new horizons.
